Q & A
How do I select the best physical therapist? What questions should I ask? What can I expect?
When you are suffering from an unexpected illness or injury, or planning for or recovering from surgery, we are the provider you need. Our licensed physical therapist is equipped to handle a comprehensive range of medical conditions and injuries, with services tailored to your needs.

Be assured, P.T. First is commited to excellence when it comes to the level of care we provide.
PRE-SURGERY SERVICES
Why would I use a Physical Therapist before surgery?
Physical therapy can help your body strengthen and gain flexilibity before surgery, to speed recovery after surgery.
JOINT REPLACEMENT
I'm scheduled for a double knee replacement, and the doctor said I can use the hospital's physical therapy group.
But they can't see me for 3 weeks after the surgery. Does that matter?
You may choose ANY licensed physical therapy clinic, and you are right, your best healing will result from starting with a great physical therapist right away.
Call us! P.T. First can usually see a patient within a few days.
WORKER'S COMPENSATION
How can I get back to work fastest?
Let P.T. First send a licensed physical therapist to you. Most patients can begin within a few days of calling us.
How can I reduce the time off work for my physical therapy?
P.T. First can come to most work places to provide physical therapy. This means less time off of work for you, and less to coordinate. Call us.
POST-SURGERY SERVICES
How long should I wait after surgery to start physical therapy?
Most services are best started within a few days of surgery. The work will adjust as you heal and strengthen.

Will you have me sit with a hot pack during therapy?
Where heat and cold treatments are indicated, you will apply those at home. Physical Therapy sessions will focus on improving movement and flexibility.
SPRAINS & STRAINS
My doctor said "it's just a sprain" but it hurts a lot. What can I do?
A P.T. First physical therapist can provide gentle exercises tailored to your specific needs.
The right exercises, in line with your doctor's diagnosis, will speed recovery and help prevent further injury.
CLINIC VISITS
Will you give me a pre-printed list of a dozen or so exercises I have to do at home?
Physical Therapy is best tailored to the individual. You will NEVER be handed a laundry list of 'exercises' from P.T. First.
When specific activities are suggested, they will be selected for optimum healing and comfort for your needs. We will review them individually so that you can learn how the activities will benefit you, when to do them, and when NOT to.
